Seven things to inspect
1. Opportunities repeatedly lack a customer-agreed next step. 2. Close dates move without a new explanation. 3. Pipeline meetings produce updates but no decisions. 4. Coaching happens only after a missed number. 5. CRM records disagree with what sellers report. 6. Follow-up depends on founder reminders. 7. The same blockers return without an owner. Take a small sample of actual deals and verify which patterns occur.
Separate management from demand problems
Check targeting, contact quality, response, qualification and conversion together. A team can have both weak demand and weak management. More activity will not repair an unclear buying process, while excellent coaching will not make a poor-fit market buy. Ask where the evidence shows the loss occurring and what alternative explanation remains plausible.
Choose one useful correction
If qualified opportunities stall after meetings, establish a next-step review and coach that behavior. If few prospects are relevant, address the audience or offer. Name the change, its owner and the evidence you will revisit. Avoid declaring the diagnosis from a dashboard alone or adding a tool before identifying the work it should improve.
